The No-Panic Party Prep Diary: Three Hut Appointments Before the First Christmas Do

Today is 8 November 2026, which means the first Christmas do is probably closer than your brain wants to admit. The good news? You do not need a £200 facial, a ten-step routine or a panic dash round the beauty hall. You need a plan, a local salon you trust and a budget you can stick to. Here is the countdown I would follow from mid-November: three weeks, three appointments, under £60.
Start with the budget, not the panic
Set your ceiling at £60 and write it down. At Hut-style prices, that buys a brow tidy, an express facial and a simple file and polish, with a few pounds left for the boring bits that actually matter. Prices vary by salon and treatment length, so check when you book. The rule is simple: book the appointments you will keep, not the ones that sound impressive.
Also: do not try a brand-new acid, peel or retinol in the week of a party. A calm, hydrated face beats a reactive one every time.
Week one, w/c 16 November: tidy and hydrate
Book a brow shape, or a shape and tint if you usually tint. Budget around £10 to £15. This is the appointment that makes the biggest visible difference for the least money, especially if you have been ignoring your brows since summer.
At home, keep it dull on purpose. Cleanse gently, moisturise, apply lip balm, drink water and go to bed. If your skin is flaky, use a soft flannel and a basic moisturiser rather than a scrub you found at the back of the cupboard. The goal this week is not a transformation. It is to stop your face feeling tight and tired.
Remaining budget: roughly £45.
Week two, w/c 23 November: the main appointment
This is the week for the express facial. At the Hut, that usually means a cleanse, a gentle exfoliation, a mask and a moisturise, with a bit of a massage if time allows. Budget £20 to £25. Book it for a weekday evening if you can; it is easier to keep than a Saturday slot and it gives you a proper pause before the diary fills up.
Skip the add-ons if they push you over budget. A short facial done regularly beats a long one done once a year. And if you are getting a tint or wax for the first time, ask for a patch test in good time.
At home, stick to what you know. Moisturiser, SPF in the daytime, lip balm at night. If you want a bit of glow, a warm flannel over the face for a minute before moisturiser is free and surprisingly lovely.
Remaining budget: around £20 to £25.
Week three, w/c 30 November: hands, feet and finishing touches
Book a simple file and polish, or a mini pedicure if your feet are the thing that makes you feel unready. Budget £12 to £18. This is not about nail art or a three-hour appointment. It is about looking down at your hands during the office Secret Santa and not wincing.
Use the last few pounds on the useful stuff: a lip balm you will actually carry, a body lotion for the week before the do, and maybe a spare pair of tights. If you have £5 left, spend it on nothing. A budget that leaves a tiny buffer is a budget you will repeat.
The at-home steps that earn their place
Sleep is the least glamorous treatment on the list and the one that shows up first in the photos. Try to get one early night in the week before your first event. Keep moisturiser by the sink so you use it after washing your hands. Put lip balm in your coat pocket. Moisturise your body after a shower while your skin is still damp. None of this costs £200.
If you want one extra habit, make it SPF. A basic daily SPF is more useful than a shelf of fancy serums, even in a British November.
What I would skip
I would skip a new in-salon peel in the same week as a party, a full set of lash extensions if you are not used to them, and any product that promises to fix your skin in three days. I would also skip the idea that you need a different outfit, a different face and a different personality for the Christmas do. You need a bit of sleep, a tidy brow and a face that is not angry with you.
The three-week version in one line
Brows in week one, facial in week two, nails in week three, and a £60 cap throughout. Book early, keep the at-home bit boring, and leave three days before the event for nothing more dramatic than a face mask and an early night.
That is the whole plan. No panic, no £200 facial, no January regret. Just a local Hut countdown that gets you to the first Christmas do looking like yourself, only a bit more rested.
